How long is the wait to see each of you?

Generally, we can book an individual or couples counseling appointment with you within a week or two at the latest. We have evening availability to provide flexibility to fit your schedule.

Are my counseling sessions confidential?

Yes. Your confidentiality is of paramount importance to me. We are members of several professional counseling organizations and adhere to their code of ethics in regard to this.

How do you keep my personal information private?

Any records are kept in accordance with the Health Information Portability and Accountability of 1996 (HIPAA). Any notes of our counseling sessions are kept either in a locked cabinet or encrypted on a password-protected computer and destroyed after a period of seven years.

How long is a therapy session?

Individual and couple sessions are for 50 minutes unless prior arrangements are made.

What is the cost of a therapy session?

We will let you know our current fees when we speak on the phone. Some of us work with insurance companies. Payment may be made at the time of service in person or through Stripe for telehealth through Doxy.me, credit card, debit card, cash, or check. Co-payment is expected at the time of the visit.

What if I can’t make my appointment or I need to cancel?

Since scheduling of a counseling appointment involves the reservation of a time specifically for you, a minimum of 24 hours notice is required for rescheduling or cancelling an appointment. Unless we reach a different agreement, the full fee will be charged for sessions missed without such notification. Of course, we will be happy to reschedule your appointment and ask that you provide more than 24 hours notice.

How often should I attend therapy sessions?

The best outcomes for therapy are possible when relationship counseling appointments are scheduled and attended regularly. Together we determine how often you will attend, based on your needs and schedule, which may be weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly.

I want counseling but my partner does not. What can I do?

It is possible that by attending relationship counseling on your own that you can make significant changes within yourself. These changes typically are beneficial to your relationship. Even if your partner won’t come in for couples counseling, you can work on the part you play in the patterns and dynamics of your relationship and this will generally have a positive impact on how you function as a couple. You may even find that your partner’s behavior changes as a result of the changes you have made.
